Fire hits Laguna warehouse

CAMP VICENTE LIM- A seven-hour fire razed to the ground a three-building warehouse containing plastic and Styrofoam materials in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna on early Sunday.

City Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Rizalde Castro said the fire originated from one of the three storage buildings of the warehouse of Fortune Trading in Barangay Balibago.

In a phone interview, Castro said the fire started an hour past midnight and lasted for seven hours, until it was put out at around 8 a.m.

The warehouse owner, a Filipino-Chinese businessman, has yet to execute an affidavit of loss but Castro placed the cost of damages at “at least P1 million.”

Fire investigators have yet to identify the cause of fire.

“It wasn’t a good start of the Chinese New Year for (the owner and his workers),” Castro said.
