WITH his term ending more than four months from now. Rep. Eduardo Gullas of Cebu’s 1st district has delegated the completion of the Naga-Carcar cities road widening project to his heir apparent.
In a press conference yesterday, Gullas said the road widening project will be completed next year.
He also assured that he has taken pains to avoid uprooting the century-old acacia trees to be affected by the project. He said he was able to raise P425 million while Rep. Tomas Osmeña of Cebu City’s south district allocated P400 million from his pork barrel for the P1.25 billion road-widening project.
Gullas said it’s up to his grandson, Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, to look for the remaining P375 million.
The road widening project in the first district has a “regional influence” since vehicles heading to southern Cebu from Negros and nearby islands have to pass the Carcar to Sibonga section.Reporter Ador Vincent Mayol
