Philippine Red Cross Million Volunteers Run kicks off today in 3 venues

/ 07:31 AM February 10, 2013

THREE different venues will host the Philippine Red Cross-Lapu-Lapu Cordova Chapter’s version of the Million Volunteers Run today.

At 5 a.m., the race will simultaneously start at the Olanggo Island town hall, the Hoopsdome in Lapu-Lapu City and at the Cordova municipal hall. The event is part of a nationwide simultaneous run of the PRC that aims to set a record of one million runners in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Proceeds of the race will help those affected by typhoon Pablo last December. It will also help fund the group’s humanitarian services to the community.

The races will offer 3-kilometer and 5k distance. Because it is a fun run, no singlets and cash prizes will be given away. Finishers will be given medals after the run.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
