USC booters aim to secure top spot in Aboitiz Cup tilt

THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) tries to claim the top spot in bracket A of the Girls 17 category when it faces Ateneo de Cebu in the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup today at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

USC, however, has to score more than four points in order to topple Ateneo at the top of the leaderboard.

Ateneo currently leads with nine points with a goal difference of 19 while USC has six points with a GD of 15.

In the Boys 17 category, the DB Razkals hopes to tally its first win against bracket A top 2 Cebu International School (CIS).

The DB Razkals are currently dwelling at the bottom rung after losing both their matches so far.

Their foe, CIS is vying for the top spot as it trails bracket leader Don Bosco with three points.

In bracket B, Springdale also hopes to barge into the win column as it goes up against bracket leader Ateneo-A.

In bracket C, Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy, hopes to pad its second place standings as it goes up against Ateneo B.

Both teams tote a 1-1 (win-loss) record equivalent to three points. However, ANS eclipses Ateneo B at the second spot because of its 15-point goal difference. Ateneo, on the other hand, has a negative three.

In the Boys 14, ANS Pomeroy also hopes to continue with its winning roll in bracket C as it faces Centre for International Education (CIE), which has yet to draw first blood in the tournament.

The other match in the category will pit Springdale B against Ateneo-B./CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
