Body frisks at City Hall?

TIGHTER security measures including body frisks and bag checks were proposed at the Cebu City Hall following July robberies that remain unsolved.

Reynaldo Cuevas, president of the Care Best International Security Services Inc., said  so far they have no lead on the identity of the robber.

But he noted in his July 27 incident report that they did not see any sign of forced entry at the city post office, planning and development office and the office of Councilor Alvin Dizon.

“Regrettably, no final disposition of the above incident can be arrived yet due to the limited information gathered in the course of the initial investigation and pending results of the findings of the Theft and Robbery Section,” Cuevas’ report read.

City Administrator Jose Marie Poblete agreed with Cuevas on the need to improve City Hall security.

He said, however, that “body frisks should not be allowed at City Hall because this is a government office.”

Poblete, who met with Care Best security personnel on Monday, said Cuevas’ recommendations are subject to review and approval by Philip Zafra, the mayor’s chief of staff and head of the Civil Security Unit.

He warned security personnel that the robbery  should be the last in City Hall.
