Two copra buyers were challenged to file charges against two policemen whom they accused of stealing P100,000 during a body inspection in barangay Anieslag, Pinamungajan, southwest Cebu.
Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr., director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, said Berto Ongkoy and Maricosa Arañas should make official their complaints against Insp. Leo Logroño and his men.
Logroño is chief of the Pinamungajan police.
Ongkoy accused Logroño and his men of taking P100,000 from his pocket when he and Arañas were frisked by the policemen.
Logroño denied the allegation. He said he is ready to face any charges that the complainants might file against the Pinamungajan police.
Comendador defended the Pinamungajan police, saying the operation was legitimate.
Comendador said Logroño and his men went to Anieslag on Monday afternoon after they received reports of the presence of armed men.
There, Logroño and his men spotted Ongkoy and Arañas and frisked them.
A handgun was found in Ongkoy’s possession but he was able to show proof that the gun was licensed.
Ongkoy and Arañas went to the barangay to buy copra.
