DPWH admits info lapse in road project

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) apologized for not informing the public beforehand about work to be done for the P12.5 million road concreting project in Canduman road in Mandaue City.

Engr. Renault Ricardo, DPWH district office spokesman, said the project started last Jan. 31 and has caused caused heavy traffic along H. Abellana Street.

He said signages were placed and that six traffic enforcers of Mandaue City were assigned to guide motorists on what routes to take while the project is ongoing.

Barangay tanods and personnel from the construction company will also assist.

Vehicles coming from the national road in M.C. Briones were advised to take the route in barangay Pagsabungan going to Suico Street.

Edwin Ermac, chief of the Traffic Enforcement Agency in Mandaue City (TEAM), said the area has only one open lane for vehicles exiting in barangay Canduman.

The project has two sections, one near Save More Department Store covering 600 meters and another near Sacred Heart Ateneo School covering 100 meters.

Ricardo said the DPWH identified the two sections as worn out and in need of rehabilitation.

The project was awarded to Square Cube Construction and Development Corp. and will run for 75 calendar days. Reporter Jucell Marie Cuyos
