Students from a school in Cebu City will benefit from the 1k at Amway Fun Run 2013 slated Feb. 16 starting at the Parkmall in Mandaue City.
The run is part of Amway Philippines’ bid to strengthen its charity works this year.
The running event will help Amway’s foundation, the Amway One by One.
Part of the registration fee of each runner in either the 1-kilometer or 5k category will help give a book to students of the Carreta Elementary School in Cebu City.
The Cebu hosting is actually the last of five fun runs organized by Amway in the country. The first was held in Manila, then in Cagayan de Oro, Baguio and Davao, respectively.
“We want Cebu to be the grand finale of our charity fun run because we’ve heard this city is really interested in running,” said Amway marketing manager Dulce Ricafort during yesterday’s launching at Bo’s Coffee in Parkmall . Joining him were race director Kenneth Casquejo of Kinetic Running and Parkmall’s Anne Mapiscay.
The registration fee is pegged at P595 for both categories. But each runner will avail of the P700 worth of Nutrilite food supplement inclusive of the fun run’s singlet and other Amway product giveaways after the run. Aside from that, part of the fee will be used to purchase a brand new book for students in Carreta Elementary School.
The fee also allows a runner to be a member of Amway. Registration at Amway originally is worth P1,000.
Amway One by One Foundation for children will celebrate its 10th anniversary this November, according to Ricafort.
Independent Business Owners (IBO), especially those who are members of Amway, will have a separate 5k category during the fun run.
As of this writing, the organizers have managed to sign up 140 runners. They are optimistic to reach their target of 1,000 to 1,5000 runners.
Casquejo, meanwhile, said the route will be within the Parkmall grounds. Registration can be done at the Amway office along Jakosalem st. An onsite registration is also available on race day at Parkmall.
