VIRGILIO ‘Maton’ Silvano of the Omega Boxing Gym is in line for a regional title bout if he gets past Louie Arlos in their fight this Friday in the southern Cebu town of Dalaguete.
The 22-year-old Silvano (13W-2L-1D, 8 KOs) is the number one light flyweight contender in the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) rankings and is the mandatory challenger to OPBF lt.flyweight champion Shin Ono of Japan.
Omega Boxing gym manager James Osorio told CDN yesterday about this title bout which will be held in Japan. This will also be Silvano’s first bout overseas.
The 30-year-old Ono (15W-5L-2D, 2 KOs) won the title in Tokyo by split decision against Omari Kimweri, a Tanzanian based in Australia, last January 12.
Silvano needs an impressive showing when he defends his Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) title against Arlos (7W-1L, 2 KOs) at the Dalaguete Sports Complex.
The protagonists will have their official weigh-in on Thursday morning (February 7) at the GAB Office.
A co-feature in the fight card is former three time OPBF champion Randy ‘Komong Bato’ Suico, who is hoping to bounce back against William Jorge after suffering a loss in Australia to Les Sherrington last November.
