MANILA, Philippines — An official of the United Nationalist Alliance on Wednesday urged the Liberal Party to “stop sowing intrigue” and take its cue from President Benigno Aquino III who has earlier said he was in good terms with Vice President Jejomar Binay.

“They are back to sowing intrigue, they are starting to sound out of tune,” said UNA secretary general and Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco, reacting to accusations that the Binay-led coalition was merely riding on the President’s popularity.

“Wala bang bago (Anything new)? Paulit-ulit na lang ’yan, recycled issue na yang pang-iintriga nila (It’s getting repetitive, they’re using recycled issues in spreading intrigues),” he said.

Last Tuesday, LP spokesperson and Deputy Speaker Lorenzo Tañada III told reporters that UNA is masquerading as supporters of the Aquino administration “kahit maliwanag na hindi (though it’s obvious it is not).”

Eastern Samar Representative Ben Evardone also told UNA to “stick to issues and avoid personality-based campaign.”

“We have answered the issue so many times already,” said Tiangco, urging the ruling party to follow the lead of the President who “already said he had no problem with VP Binay.”

He maintained that UNA would be the administration’s fiscalizers, supporting its good programs and criticizing inappropriate ones.
