New DSWD-7 head assumes into office

THE new regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas, Mercedita P. Jabagat has just assumed into office on Monday, replacing Ma. Evelyn Macapobre, who is now assigned in Iloilo City as DSWD-6 director.

A native of Isabela City, Basilan but currently resides in Davao City, Jabagat graduated in Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the Western Mindanao State University in 1976.

Jabagat, who first met with the DSWD-7 personnel on Monday, emphasized work excellence in the department. She instructed all the staff to exert efforts in implementing various anti-poverty alleviation and social protection programs, such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services and the Sustainable Livelihood Program.

She further acknowledged the importance of collaborating with the different local government units, other government agencies and non-government organizations in making the programs successful.

Director Jabagat has lined up courtesy calls and visits to the town and city mayors as well as provincial governors and district representatives in Central Visayas starting this week until June.
