MANILA, Philippines – A bill seeking to establish the new province of Nueva Camarines was passed on second reading in the Senate Tuesday.

The passage of the bill had been delayed previously after Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV engaged in a verbal tussle in session over the alleged railroading of the bill last year.

Senate Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, who had stated that the bill was not yet dead, continued to push for the measure before the Senate went on Christmas break last year.

The bill seeks to create the new province of Nueva Camarines from the fourth district of Camarines Sur.
