Investigation on Rizal scaffolding mishap begins Tuesday—police

PILILLA, Rizal, Philippines—Police begin the investigation Tuesday on the scaffolding accident in a power plant at Pililla town in Rizal province that left five construction workers dead and 12 wounded, said a report by Ruel Perez of Radyo Inquirer 990AM early Tuesday.

The report, quoting Insp. Neowil De Castro of Pililla police station, said they will officially begin the examination Tuesday following Monday’s retrieval operations.

The police have identified the recovered bodies of Eduardo Fidel, Gregorio Ricalde, foreman Roberto Mesias, Antonio Manguerra and Jeffrey Sinag.

The identified victims were workers of East West Contractors.

They were reportedly fixing the smokestack of SPC’s Malaya Power Plant when the scaffolding collapsed from a height of 70 feet.
