Hanjin claims another life

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—A worker of Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Philippines Inc. died on Thursday after being struck by a forklift driven by another worker inside the Korean shipyard here.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SMBA) Chair Roberto Garcia confirmed the latest death at the shipyard since April 2011. But the worker’s identity was not immediately available.

Garcia did not release further details, saying he needed to wait for a formal report from SBMA security personnel, who were investigating the accident.

Since the Korean shipbuilder started operation here in 2006, 26 workers have been killed in work-related accidents.
