Beermen eye revenge

THE SAN MIGUEL Beermen will be angling for payback today when they face off against the Saigon Heat for the second time in as many weeks in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Now boasting of the homecourt advantage, the Beermen are thirsty for revenge for the 89-92 loss they received against the Heat last weekend at the Tan Binh Stadium in Vietnam.

In that game, Dior Lowhorn, David Palmer and Filipino guard Jai Reyes exploded on the offensive end to defeat the Beermen for their third win in four games.

Lowhorn had 27 points, Palmer added 26 while Reyes, a former standout from Ateneo who briefly played in the pros, added 22 markers.

Although several players scored in double figures for SMB, it wasn’t enough to offset the rough shooting night of import Gabe Freeman, who led the team with 16 points but shot just 6-of-24 from the floor. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
