DEAD PERSONS

THE body of an unidentified man was found floating in the waters of barangay South Poblacion, southern Cebu.

Police said no one from the place was able to identify the man believed to be in his 50s.

The body was found by fisherman Joselito Geraldizo past 7 a.m Monday.

The man was wearing a checkered polo shirt, a gray jacket, brown slacks and a pair of black shoes.

Police said the man bore head injuries.

In a separate incident, a 7-year-old boy was found floating in a river in barangay Buanoy, Balamban town, southwest Cebu.

The fatality was identified as Ghino Moderno, whose body was found by his neighbors in Kalag-itan River in sitio Kalag-itan Thursday morning.

The boy’s mother told police that the victim together with his 10-year-old brother and some friends went swimming Monday afternoon.

While swimming, the victim´s companions noticed that the victim was missing.

MOTORIST ARRESTED FOR BRINGING MARIJUANA

A 35-YEAR-OLD man carrying a plastic bag containing dried marijuana leaves was arrested in a police checkpoint in barangay Cansaga, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

Michael Mangilaya, a resident of barangay Garing, Consolacion, was driving a motorcycle when he was flagged down by police for not wearing a helmet past midnight yesterday.

Police said Mangilaya presented an expired driver’s license and failed to show the motorcycle’s registration certificate.

While being checked, policemen saw Mangilaya threw something to the dark portion of the road.

Police later discovered that what Mangilaya threw were dried marijuana leaves.

4 MEN ARRESTED FOR NUBAIN

FOUR men were arrested after they were caught possessing Nubain in barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City Monday night.

Neil Aventurado, 20; Jerry Billota, 52; Rodulfo Cabarrubias, 28; and Gilbert Potot, 23, were arrested by barangay tanods in an interior portion of the place at 11:05 p.m., Monday.

The four were turned over to the Parian police station.

WIDOW FALLS IN DRUG BUY-BUST

A 62-YEAR-OLD widow was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Logon in Malapascua Island, Daanbantayan town, northern town Cebu.

Police said they seized a pack of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money from the possession of Victoria Isugan.

The buy-bust operation took place at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
