12 candidates to vie for Miss UP crown
Twelve candidates will vie for the Miss UP Cebu 2013 crown tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Cebu Cultural Center in Lahug, Cebu City.
This year’s pageant, with the theme “Igniting the Spirit of Modern Day Iska” will see the candidates demonstrating the values of humbleness and cheerfulness.
Annie Fe Perez, overall director of the pageant, said “Miss UP Cebu focuses on what women can do to help their society. It also serves as a venue for women to express their capabilities.”
As part of the pageant, the candidates were made to join the Tsinelas Foundation’s outreach projects, such as the Share-A-Hug last December and in Gawad Kalinga in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City last Jan. 26.
The Tsinelas Foundation is composed of students, teachers, social workers and professionals sharing a passion to be of service to others.
All 12 candidates have chosen their respective charities as their beneficiary.
This year’s Miss UP Cebu will be given P10,000 cash for her chosen beneficiary.
Wynonah Buot, the reigning Miss UP Cebu said, “Miss UP Cebu is not a search for the prettiest face, it is a competition fueled by those who can articulate their thoughts and live up to the advocacy.”
The pre-pageant was held yesterday at 7 p.m. at the Atrium of J Centre Mall, where the 12 candidates showcased their respective talents.
