MANILA, Philippines – Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II is the Liberal Party’s bet in the 2016 presidential race, a party official said.
This early, Senator Franklin Drilon announced that Roxas will be the LP’s candidate for 2016.
“Mar Roxas,” said Drilon when asked during a television interview Tuesday night who would be the LP’s bet to contest Vice President Jejomar Binay in 2016.
“Oo, itaga mo sa bato (Yes, you can cast it in stone),” he further said.
Roxas ran but lost to Binay in the 2010 vice presidential race.
Asked how the LP was preparing for Roxas’ run, Drilon said, “We are preparing by means of following the matuwid na daan (straight path). That is our preparation.”
“Because it is all about good governance. That is the advocacy of LP which the President is the chairman,” the senator added.
