Rains cause floods, heavy traffic around Metro Manila–MMDA

MANILA, Philippines — Continuous rains triggered floods and caused heavy traffic in various areas in Metro Manila, an officer from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.

Cholo Tomas of the MMDA Flood Control said that as of posting time, they’ve monitored:

* 30-centimeter deep waters along España Boulevard’s Antipolo to Blumentritt (eastbound) which Tomas said was “not passable to light vehicles,” and

* 13-inch flooding along the southbound lane from Quezon Boulevard to Quiapo.

* 20cm floods on the westbound lane from Algeciras to Lacson along España Boulevard, although still passable.

* Eight to nine inches of water along both lanes of P. Tuazon but still passable.

*12-inch deep flood along East Avenue.

*19-inch deep water at the corner of Betty Go Belmonte and E. Rodriguez, rendering the area not passable to all types of vehicles.

Dang Rosulada of the MMDA Metrobase said that there was moderate to heavy traffic along Edsa, specifically along with southbound lane from West Avenue to Ayala (moderate to heavy) and along its northbound lane from Buendia to P.Tuazon (moderate to heavy).

Along C5, its southbound lane from Libis going towards Bagong Ilog, has moderate traffic just like that of Lanuza on the northbound lane.

Commonwealth Avenue’s westbound lane has moderate traffic as well, said Rosulada.
