DSWD awards CDN with ‘Gawad Ulat’

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) has awarded Cebu Daily News (CDN) with a Gawad Ulat award for helping disseminate the agency’s various anti-poverty programs through print.

The award was given by outgoing DSWD-7 Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre and Assistant Regional Director for Operations Nemia Antipala to CDN Editorial Assistant Tito P. Tan during the culmination of the weeklong 62nd founding anniversary celebration of the DSWD last Friday at Sarrosa Hotel in Kasambagan, Cebu City.

Presidential awards were also given to Talisay City in Cebu as child-friendly city, and the towns of Tubigon in Bohol and Pilar in Camotes Island, Cebu as child-friendly municipalities in 2012.’

These three local government units will soon represent the region in the national search in Manila this year.

The Presidential Award is conferred in recognition to the role of local government unit’s (LGU) child friendly governance.

Each of the awardees received P50,000 cash and a child-friendly seal from the Council for the Welfare of Children.

Deserving employees of the DSWD in Central Visayas were also given special awards, while those who have rendered 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service to the agency received loyalty awards.

Salamat Po awards were also given by the DSWD-7 to its partners both from the government and non-government organizations as well as Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan awards to outstanding LGU.
