MANILA, Philippines—Outgoing National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Benito Ra
mos on Tuesday warned residents in at least three regions of the country against South Korea’s rocket launch scheduled between January 30 and February 8.
In an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990AM, Ramos reminded residents of Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga regions to observe the no fly, sail, and fishing policy during that period as a precautionary measure.
“Sila (South Korea) naman ay transparent. Sinasabi nila kung kailan sila magpapalipad para makapag warning tayo sa ating mga kababayan (South Korea is transparent. Authorities there inform us when they would actually launch the rocket so we could warn our people),” he said, adding that the launch is “purely for scientific exploration.”
