Rama wants separate UNA rallies for city, province
IF Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama will have his way, he will have the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) hold two proclamation rallies — one for their provincial candidates and a second one for their Cebu City candidates – “in order to avoid confusion.”
Rama said that Cebu City and Cebu province have different sets of voters whom UNA candidates should also court for support.
Last week, UNA senatorial bet Juan Miguel Zubiri said they might launch their opening salvo here in Cebu as a form of support to their beleaguered party mate, suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia and also because Cebu has a significant voting population of 2.5 million voters.
Rama, an ally of Garcia, said he could not yet say if Team Rama will have a role to play in UNA’s opening salvo which Zubiri said will be on Feb. 12 — the official start of campaign for Senate and party-list positions.
“But the supporters of Team Rama will surely be supporting UNA candidates,” he said.
Rama said he also intends to push with the Team Rama proclamation rally which they plan to have when the campaign period for local candidates officially open on March 29 – the official start of campaign for local government and congressional positions./Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
