THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas and the University of San Carlos got their title bids off to rousing starts as they took care of their respective opponents during the opening games of the ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup 2013 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Campus (SHS-AdC) Gym in Canduman last Saturday.
UV, the defending champion in the Under-16 division, defeated the Cebu Eastern College, 73-54, while USC downed the University of San Jose-Recoletos, 49-28, in the Under-13 division.
In other games in the prestigious division A class, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu 1 beat Abellana National School, 44-25, in the Under-16 age group.
In the Under-13 games, SHS-AdC A nipped CEC, 55-53, while UV stopped SHS-AdC B, 70-12.
In the Under 10 games, CEC turned back SHS-AdC, 36-24; UJSR-A defeated USC South, 36-12 while USC North Campus trounced USJR-A, 36-12.
In games of the Under 16 Division B, USJR-B outscored SHS-AdC 2, 52-47, while Thumbs Up downed the CVIRAA Grade School team, 76-26, and UV-B beat Nissi Academy, 66-24. In the Under 13 Division B, Southwestern University defeated St. Benedict, 64-39, while Punta Princesa Children Basketball Association stopped USJR-B, 81-80. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
