Cebu City observes anti-mendicancy month

THE Cebu City government has announced its observance of “Anti-Mendicancy Month.”

The city government’s Anti-Mendicancy Board prepared activities for the whole month celebration that kicked off yesterday with a motorcade.

Private business establishments are enjoined to hang streamers focusing on the theme “Ang Paghatag Maayo, Apan sa Kadalanan Dili Husto.”

Leaflets and flyers about city ordinance 1631 or anti-mendicancy law will be distributed in designated places and stickers in public utility vehicles. There will be responsible parenting seminar for parents who engaged their children in mendicancy.

Those caught giving alms would be fined P1,000 or would be required to render community service.
