2 men arrested for stabbing death of jeepney barker in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines—Two parking attendants were arrested by policemen several minutes after they chased and allegedly stabbed to death their drinking buddy at a public market in Quezon City, on Saturday night.

Apart from arresting Eddie Villanueva, 40, and Bernard Casue, 35, both of Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Batasan Hills station operatives recovered a kitchen knife believed to have been used in killing 28-year-old passenger jeepney barker Alex Dimple.

Dimple had been found beaten and dead from three stab wounds in the body.

A report from the QCPD Batasan station said that before Dimple’s body was discovered, he was last seen alive at around 6:30 p.m., Saturday, engaged in a drinking binge with Villanueva and Casue at the Commonwealth Market.

At around 7 p.m., witness Noe Salazar said that the drinking buddies started arguing and then Dimple ran away, Villanueva and Casue chasing after him. A few minutes after, a passerby stumbled onto Dimple’s body lying near the wet section of the public market.

Batasan police station immediately rushed to the site and conducted follow-up operations against Dimple’s drinking buddies, who were still in the vicinity. Responding policemen recovered from one of the suspects a bloodstained knife.

Villanueva and Casue were turned over to the custody of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit pending the filing of a murder charge against them in the city prosecutor’s office.
