Col. Arnulfo Burgos Jr., AFP spokesperson, said Rear Adm. Edgardo Tamayo has been appointed to replace Rear Adm. Edgar Abogado as vice commander of the Philippine Navy after the latter was named commander of the AFP Central Command.
Burgos said Brig. Gen. Gamaliel Cruz was designated to take over Tamayo’s former post as deputy chief of staff for logistics, or J4.
A former assistant chief of staff for logistics of the Philippine Army, Cruz currently heads its bids and awards committee.
Bautista, who succeeded Gen. Jessie Dellosa, said the revamp was part of the “AFP’s dynamism that enables us to cope with the multifaceted challenges of the security environment.”
“The changes go alongside our continued efforts to build a more professional, accountable and transparent military organization,” Bautista said in a statement.
“We are all expected to embrace our new responsibilities and continue to do our jobs with a renewed passion for excellence as we continue to lead the military institution in serving the Filipino people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Naval Sea Systems Command chief, Rear Adm. Roberto Santos, has been tapped to replace Rear Adm. Cornelio de la Cruz Jr., who will retire from the service next month, as deputy chief of staff for education and training, or J8.
Burgos said Col. Ramon Roque Jueves was designated to lead the AFP Real Estate Office, succeeding Col. Washington Catameo.
