Village dad held
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–POLICE have filed charges against a village council member in Dinalupihan, Bataan, for alleged peddling of illegal drugs.
The filing of charges for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 took place Thursday, a day after Hermin Salvador, a council member of Barangay Mabini, was arrested by policemen and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for allegedly selling “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), said Senior Superintendent Arnold Gunnacao, Bataan police director.
Salvador, 40, who is detained at the Bataan provincial jail, is fourth in the list of suspected drug pushers in Dinalupihan, Gunnacao said. Police reported seizing a plastic pack of suspected shabu from Salvador.

Trekathon in Makiling
LAGUNA –IN OBSERVANCE of the United Nations’ declaration of 2011 as the International Year of Forests, the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve is holding a trekathon competition, which also aims to increase awareness and raise funds for the conservation of the forest reserve.
The race on April 30 will be divided into 5-kilometer and 10-km trekking from the Makiling Botanic Gardens to the Mahogany plantation and to the Makiling Rainforest Park at the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of the Philippines Los Baños.
