TRAFFIC AIDE DARED TO A FIGHT

A JEEPNEY driver was arrested after he allegedly challenged a traffic enforcer to a fistfight in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City.

Christian Maglasang, 25, is facing charges of disobedience to a person in authority.

Police said Maglasang, who was driving a jeepney plying the Cebu-Danao City route, was flagged down by traffic enforcer Roger Salonga along J.P. Rizal Street past 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Salonga, a member of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team), cited Maglasang after seeing passengers clinging at the back of the jeepney.

When he was asked to pull over, Maglasang was heard telling the traffic enforcer “huboa na imung uniform, sukmagay ta (take off your uniform and let’s have a fistifht).”

Salonga ignored the challenge and instead called the police.

TRIKE DRIVER GUNNED DOWN

A TRICYCLE driver was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City .

Police are looking into illegal drugs connections in the killing of Teofilo “Lawa” Molina, 34.

Molina was jailed in 2003 for drug charges.

Police recovered a rolled tinfoil and a P100 bill from Molina’s pocket. An empty shell and a deformed slug of a .45 caliber pistol were found in the crime scene.

MAN SHOOTS FATHER DEAD

A MAN fatally shot his father after they argued while having a drinking session in barangay San Rafael, Barili town, southern Cebu.

Samuel Cabalquinto surrendered to barangay official after last Wednesday’s shooting.

The victim, 59-year-old Felomino suffered a gunshot wound in the abdomen. He died while being rushed to the hospital.

Police said the father and son and a neighbor were drinking in the victim’s house when they started arguing around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the argument started when Felomino confronted his father for allegedly claiming ownership of some trees that he planted.

While arguing, Samuel took an improvised shotgun locally known as pugakhang and shot his father, police said.

MAN STABBED DEAD BY FRIEND

A 29-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed and killed by his friend after they argued in barangay Liindogon, Sibonga, southern Cebu.

Jonnel Aliponga sustained 11 stab wounds in different parts of the body.

The suspect, Ludofred Dela Cruz, 26, was arrested yesterday afternoon in San Francisco town, Camotes Island.

Police said the two had a drinking session at a friend’s house last Wednesday night.

On their way home, the two men argued. The suspect drew a knife and stabbed the victim repeatedly, police said.

GIRL FOUND DEAD

A 17-YEAR-OLD girl was found hanging dead in her house in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Investigators were not able to immediately determine the possible causes of the suicide since the victim’s family was uncooperative in the investigation, SPO1 Ruth Violango, homicide investigator of the Cebu City police, said.

Police said the body was discovered by the girl’s live-in partner, Carlito Malda.

Police said Malda had just arrived home and went to their room past 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Malda knocked on the door several times but no one answered.
