Did you know: Pablo Ocampo Sr.
Today, Jan. 25, is the 160th birth anniversary of Pablo Ocampo Sr. Born in 1853 in Quiapo, Manila, he was a member of the Malolos Congress and a resident commissioner to the United States. He distinguished himself in the US Congress when he tried to obstruct the passage of the Payne Tariff Bill, which established free trade between the Philippines and the US. He succumbed to a pulmonary disease on Feb. 5, 1925. A marker was installed in his honor in Malate, Manila.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
