Hontiveros in favor of abolishing pork barrel

MANILA, Philippines – Akbayan Representative Risa Hontiveros is in favor of abolishing the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or Pork Barrel, she said in an interview Thursday.

It should be the ordinary citizens who get to decide how public funds will be spent, she said over Radyo Inquirer 990AM Thursday morning.

Freedom of information was necessary in order for public officials to have accountability with the funds they have spent, Hontiveros added.

Hontiveros is running for a Senate seat under the Liberal Party in the 2013 midterm elections.
