6 petitions vs RH law, still no TRO

There are now six petitions challenging the constitutionality of the controversial Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012, but the Supreme Court has not issued any order granting their request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) of the law’s implementation.

The SC public information office said that in last Tuesday’s en banc session, the high court merely asked the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to comment on two new petitions that had been filed recently—Expedito Bugarin versus the Office of the President and Eduardo Olaguer vs the Catholic Xybrspace Apostolate of the Philippines vs the Department of Health Secretary.

“No action had been taken on the respective requests for TROs,” it said.
