Shooting attacks kill 1, wound 3 others

A security guard was killed while three others were wounded in four separate shooting incidents in Cebu City and in Cebu province last Monday.

At 4 a.m., in Danao City, an unidentified gunman shot and wounded Ramil Batican, an employee of Jumalia Shipping Lines.

Police investigation showed that Batican had just left his house in barangay Tuburan Sur for work when a man approached him and shot him thrice. Batican was hit in the leg and thigh.

After shooting Batican, the gunman jumped on a waiting motorcycle and fled. Neighbors rushed Batican to the hospital for treatment.

Police recovered two slugs from the crime scene.

At past 8 p.m. in Badian, southern Cebu, a fisherman on his way to his boat and was shot in the face and back.

Jenefer Saranillo, 34, survived the attack and remained confined at the hospital.

Police said Saranillo was walking towards his boat along the seashore when he was shot from an abandoned shanty nearby. The unidentified shooter

escaped.

Police were still investigating the shooting.

Cebu City cases

At 11 p.m. in Cebu City, a man on a motorcycle shot and killed a security guard riding a motorcycle along a barangay Bulacao street near the bridge.

Renerio Ylanan, 42, died on the spot after his assailant shot him several times.

Investigation showed that Ylanan had just picked up dirty laundry from a client and was about to board his motorcycle when a man approached him and shot him several times. He didn’t reach the hospital alive.

Police said his assailants had been tailing him to his client’s house. The gunman, who was the backrider, approached and shot him.

At 11:35, in sitio Back Pepsi, barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, a man was shot and wounded by his neighbor after they argued during a drinking spree.

Mark Anthony Ygot was shot in the body by a certain JR, who’s also known as Tigbas in the area.

Police said JR still managed to run home and sought help from his parents, who brought him to the hospital for treatment.
