National Language Month, or “Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa,” is marked every August pursuant to Proclamation 1041, which was signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos in 1997. The celebration coincides with the birth month of the late President Manuel L. Quezon, considered the father of the Philippine National Language, who was born on Aug. 19, 1878.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
