Drunk driving kills woman in Quezon City

/ 10:46 PM January 21, 2013

A woman was killed after she fell off a speeding motorcycle and got run over by a passenger bus on Commonwealth Avenue past dawn Monday in Fairview, Quezon City.

Joanna Marie Magsanoc, 25, died on the spot after she was hit by the Safeway Bus (TXT 839) at 5 a.m. on the southbound lane of the so-called “killer highway” near the corner of Peacock Street. Her live-in partner, 26-year-old Jerome Aglean, who was driving the motorcycle, was reportedly drunk at the time of the accident.

Traffic investigator SPO1 Gary Talacay said the couple were on their way home to Doña Carmen in Barangay (village) Commonwealth after a drinking spree when they figured in the accident.

Talacay learned that Aglean lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the rear of a Viofel bus. The impact caused Magsanoc to fall on the road where she was run down by the Safeway Bus.—Julie M. Aurelio
