Woman killed in Commonwealth mishap

MANILA, Philippines – A woman was killed after she was ran over by a passenger bus when she was thrown off the motorcycle she was riding with her live-in partner in Quezon City early Monday, a city traffic officer said.

Quoting an initial investigation, Police aide Paul Torres of Quezon City traffic sector said live-in partners Joanna Marie Magsanoc, 25, and Jerome Agliam, 26, were travelling along the southbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue near Peacock Street, Quezon City when their motorcycle allegedly hit a Viofel Transport bus around 5:20 a.m.

Due to the impact, Torres said Magsanoc was thrown off the motorcycle and was hit by a Safeway bus with license plate TXP 836, while Agliam sustained “slight injuries.”

“Nagulungan yung ulo ni Magsanoc kasi natanggal helmet niya,” Torres said.

He said Magsanoc died on the spot while her wounded partner refused to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Safeway bus driver, whose name was not immediately available, has been taken into police custody and is being interviewed by investigators.
