FORMER SOUTHWESTERN University guard Rey Potot proved to be the difference as he led the ARN Builders to an 88-75 win over the Cebu Vendors Credit Cooperative (CVCCO) to claim their second straight title in the Guadalupe Athletics Association (GAA) 2012 Christmas basketball tournament at the barangay Guadalupe Sports Complex last weekend.
Potot was the catalyst of the 29-16 run in the third period that put ARN on top, 64-56, after trailing by five at halftime.
They then fought off every single uprising their opponents mounted in the fourth canto to complete the win and hoist the trophy.
Potot led the way for the Builders with 13 points while Velben Jimenez cashed in 12 points.
Ed Pajuay and Tim Dinampo also finished in double figures for CVCCO with identical 12 points each.
Potot was later named the MVP.
The ARN Builders also went into the GAA history books as having the longest winning streak with 15 straight wins during the duration of the tournament that started last Dec. 12/Correspondent Jonas Panerio
