Entrepreneurial skills can’t be learned overnight. It takes time and effort to become a successful businessman. This is what the Centre for International Education (CIE) aims to impart on their students during the Global Entrepreneur Week held in Parkmall last Jan. 10 to 12.

CIE students from levels 7 to 12 (grades 5 to 4th year high school) were given the chance to display their small-scale business exhibits at the West Lobby in Parkmall. Their products ranged from fashion accessories, gift bags, food items, clothing and toys.

This year’s theme was “Renewing the spirit of innovation.”

The students experienced how it felt to have their own stall in a mall setting.

CIE includes business studies in their curriculum to raise future leaders. Arnold Sy, the fair coordinator said “this activity will help the students develop marketing collateral for promoting businesses through different media as well as product development.” Having an entrepreneurial fair will serve as a training ground to develop students’ awareness and skills in applying theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom to become successful global leaders.

Parkmall’s general manager Neal Co said, “It’s quite inspiring to see them (students) starting young. This is more than just knowing how to make a profit. Rather, the students also see the bigger picture that there are also ups and downs in the real business world.”
