DEAD MAN IN MANDAUE BRIDGE

AN unidentified man was found dead under the Marcelo Fernan Bridge in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

No one from the area was able to identify the man who is believed to be in his 60’s.

Police said there were no signs of foul play.

POLICE ROUND UP 4 WOMEN

FOUR Tagalog-speaking women were picked up by Cebu City police on suspicion that they were involved in petty crimes.

Operatives of the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) of the Cebu City police rounded up the four women in a pension house in downtown area.

Insp. Rolando Pinili, chief of TSR, said police rushed to the pension house on Wednesday night after receiving a report that suspicious persons had checked in at the establishment.

Pinili said at least 10 persons checked in at the hotel but some of them managed to slip out before the police arrived.

Pinili said the women may be planning to strike during the Sinulog.

Pinili said several wallets were recovered from them.

Some of the women were previously arrested for theft charges.

Pinili said since they were not caught committing a crime, they will be asked to leave the province.

The four refused to talk to reporters.

Police advised pickpocket victims to go to the police station to identify the recovered wallets.

Police also rounded up six minors who were allegedly involved in snatching incident in Juana Osmeña.

MAN NABBED FOR KEEPING GUN AT HOME

A MAN previously arrested for drugs was arrested again after police found him keeping a firearm in his house in barangay Calero, Liloan town, northern Cebu.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) recovered a .38 caliber revolver and four bullets from the house of Michael Pitogo Garbo in sitio Tagaytay.

A search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Teresita Abarquez-Galanida of Mandaue City was used in yesterday’s raid.

Insp. Delfin Bontuyan, who led the operation, said they raided the suspect’s house after some residents in the area complained that the man was seen brandishing a gun outside his house.
