MANILA, Philippines — House minority leader Danilo Suarez wants beneficiaries of the government’s conditional cash transfer to receive the money ahead of the midterm elections to avoid corrupting the program.

Suarez told reporters Thursday that he would file on Monday a resolution which would urge the government to release funding for CCT beneficiaries starting February, 90 days before the polls set in May.

“I’m going to ask that starting the campaign of the Senate, which will be on February, yung beneficiaries ng CCT ibigay na ng 90 days advance. Para walang distribution during the campaign period,” he said.

“We will try to avoid any malicious intent for a good program na lalagyan ng bahid pulitika,” Suarez added.
