Sinclair Basketball Super League to look for new cage heroes

A NATIONWIDE tournament aimed at discovering more basketball talents aged 22 years old and below is set to open as the Sinclair Basketball Super League kicks off on Feb. 23

A total of 118 squads are set to compete in the tournament which will run for four months and will culminate on June 2. The tournament will have competitions spread all over the country, including Cebu, which has been bunched together with Tacloban to comprise the Eastern Visayas regionals.

League coordinator, Darren Evangelista said in a press statement, that the tournament is being done in coordination with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas with the main thrust of discovering and developing talented players from all over the country. Moreover, the event will also help in rehabilitating the different basketball courts to be visited by the “Super League” during its duration.

The areas that will be having tournaments are: South Mindanao (Davao, Tagum/Panabo, General Santos), North Mindanao (Cagayan De Oro A and B, Butuan, Agusan Del Sur), Western Visayas (Iloilo, Aklan, Negros, Bacolod), Eastern Visayas (Cebu, Tacloban), North Luzon (Ilocos, Bulacan, Pampanga, Isabela), and South Luzon (Laguna, Batangas, Bicol).

Preliminaries will also be held in NCR divided into A (Camanava, Quezon City, Manila), and B (Las Pinas, Paranaque, Makati, Pasig, Taguig, Pasay).

Evangelista added that they do not have restrictions with regards to eligibility so long as they are 22 years old and below. The regional finals is scheduled on April 27 to May 12 with the national finals on May 30 to June 2. The champion squad will earn a trophy and P100,000 in cash. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
