MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified 63 nuisance candidates and 10 ineligible candidates running for the 2013 national and local elections.

Comelec defines nusiance candidates as those who “(1) put the election process in mockery or disrepute, (2) causes confusion among the voters by the similarity of the names of the registered candidates, (3) have no bona fide intention to run for the office.”

The ineligible candidates were declared as such “due to their failure to meet the age requirement [or because they were not] a registered voter,” Comelec said in their resolution promulgated January 11.
