‘Laslas gang’ strikes, victimizes CDN editor

THE assistant Lifestyle editor of Cebu Daily News fell prey to an unidentified thief who slashed her bag and took her cellphone inside a passenger jeepney in barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City.

Maria Niza Mariñas said she discovered that her bag was slashed and her Sony Ericson phone worth P26,000 missing shortly after a male co-passenger alighted the jeepney in M. C. Briones Street.

Mariñas boarded the Cebu City-bound jeepney near her house in barangay Umapad around 3 p.m. yesterday.

Mariñas said the man wore decent clothes and was carrying a backpack.

Chief Insp. Michael Anthony Bastes said the man was a member of the ‘Laslas Gang’, which is from Manila.
