Subangdaku flyover closes for repair

07:57 AM January 12, 2013

The Subandaku flyover in Mandaue City will be closed for repair 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area, where the flyover crosses Hernan Cortes Street and the Mandaue highway.

The weekend repair is needed to fix a defective expansion joint to avoid accidents and ensure its strucural integrity, said Renult Ricardo, assistant district engineer of the Dept. of Public Works and Highways.

He said they found out two weeks ago that “the center expansion joint of the flyover is almost detached and the anchor bolt is no longer anchored to the steel plate.”
