Mandaue police eyes vendetta in boy’s death

POLICE are looking into vengeance as a possible motive in the death of a 3-year-old boy whose body was found in a grassy portion of FF Cruz, Reclamation Area, Mandaue City.

The lifeless, naked body of Jian Jumawan was found by personnel of the Saint James Amusement Park who were clearing a grassy portion behind the park past 4 p.m. yesterday.

The boy’s mother Grace said she had been looking for their youngest child since Thursday afternoon. The family lives a shack in the Reclamation Area.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the case of death.

Police are looking into a possible connection between the killing and a case of child rape involving the slain boy’s father Arvin Jumawan.

Jamawan was arrested on Dec. 26 last year on suspicion of having raped a 3-year-old child of of an ex-convict, a certain Roel Jimenez.

Insp. Ramil Morpos, deputy chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB), said Mandaue police are looking into a possible motive of vengeance because Jian’s mother told them she recalled hearing Jimenez threaten to get even..

The mother quoted Jimenez as saying during the filing of the rape case last December 27: “Sobra pa sa kasakit ang akong buhaton”.

Police are now looking for Jimenez, who works as a cigarette vendor and dispatcher./Reporer Jucell Marie Cuyos
