Bomb hits police HQ in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan – The Afghan government said a bomb has blown up outside the main gate of the police headquarters in the so uthern Afghan city of Lashkar Gah.

Helmand provincial government spokesman Daoud Ahmadi said there have been some deaths from the explosion but declined to give numbers. He said that a wall of the compound has also collapsed and that they were not sure whether anyone was trapped underneath.

He said it was a police vehicle that exploded but it was unclear whether it had been driven into the gate by a suicide bomber or whether a bomb had been place inside a parked vehicle.
