MANILA, Philippines—The second cyclone in the Philippine territory for the year, tropical depression “Bising” has maintained its strength as it moved slower north northwestward, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
Signal No. 1 or winds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour remained in Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay and Sorsogon, Northern, Western and Eastern Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
As of 4 a.m., the center of the tropical depression 170 kilometers northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar.
It carried maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center, and was moving north northwest at 13 kph.
It will bring moderate to heavy rains within its 300 kilometers.
Those living in low lying and mountainous areas under Signal No. 1 were alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon and over the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon and Visayas due to “Bising” and the northeast monsoon, Pagasa said.
Bising is expected to be at 110 km northeast of Virac, Catanduanes by Sunday morning and at 360 km east of Aparri, Cagayan by Monday morning. By Tuesday morning, it is expected to be at 580 km northeast of Basco, Batanes.
