N. Cotabato vice mayor shot dead

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines – Unidentified assailants shot dead the Vice Mayor of Kabacan, North Cotabato past 3 p.m. Friday as he was walking into a bookstore along USM Avenue, witnesses said.

Policronio Dulay was alone and was about to buy something from Alan’s Bookstore when he was attacked.

Dulay sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died before he could be given treatment at the hospital where he was rushed to.

Witnesses said there were few people in the usually crowded stretch that leads to the University of Southern Mindanao because the university has no class during Fridays.

Dulay, a former police officer before he entered politics, usually moved around town without a bodyguard because there had been no threats on his life and he had no known enemies, a source, who requested anonymity, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
