MANILA, Philippines — Nearly 5,000 persons were affected by floods in Davao, Soccsksargen and Caraga as a low pressure area dumped rain in these regions, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.
In its latest bulletin, the NDRRMC said 585 persons or 117 families sought shelter in evacuation centers.
The municipality of Norala in South Cotabato was also declared under state of calamity due to floods.
Three roads and a bridge remained impassable in Caraga region also because of floods, including Pagmam-an Bridge, the national highways in the villages of San Vicente and Dughan to Poblacion, all in Surigao del Sur; barangay road in the villages of Segovia and Lapura in Talacogon and Poblacion to Nueva Trabajo road in San Luis, Agusan del Sur.
Clearing operations are underway by DPWH Caraga, said NDRRMC.
