Rama mulls stay of acting treasurer

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama has developed a liking for Acting Treasurer Emma Villarete whose terms ends on January 17.

Although he went to court to stop Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima from replacing Ofelia Oliva by Villarete in July last year, Mayor Rama is now all praises for the acting treasurer.

“The lady has been doing fine,” Rama said.

Although he did not say he would ask for Villarete’s stay as head of the City Treasurers Office and bring back Oliva, Rama said he was weighing matters and consulting his office.

“If she (Villarete) is doing fine, delivering things better, why find changes? So far she is getting to adjust, finding her way,” Rama added.

Meanwhile, the mayor created a new position in his office to to oversee the operations of the Public Information and Protocol office.

Rama last Jan. 4 appointed Remedios Vestil-Mondigo, to oversee programs of the City Information Office headed by Carlo Dugaduga and the Protocol Office headed by Ryan Echevarria.

Mondigo formerly worked with the National Economic Development Authority.
