MANILA, Philippines–A tip from a resident led members of the Northern Police District to an alleged drug den in Malabon City and the eventual arrest of two men caught in the act of sniffing an illegal substance.
The NPD Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group is now preparing charges of drug possession and use and maintaining and visiting a drug den against suspects Manuel Malonda, 50, and Eduardo Co, 38, who were arrested in a raid on Monday.
A report filed by NPDAID-SOTG action officer Chief Inspector Arsenio Riparip showed that a tip from a concerned citizen kicked off an investigation of an alleged drug pusher, who maintains a drug den at 17 Cristina St., Barangay (village) Panghulo, Malabon City.
The police received a message from the anonymous tipster, saying that Malonda, also known by his alias Boy Karancho, was a drug pusher using the name of a certain “General Cerbo” in his dealings.
The tipster also claimed that the suspect was also bribing the Malabon Police.
Upon investigation, the NPD confirmed the illegal dealings of Malonda and staged a raid on Monday afternoon.
The police arrived at the scene and caught five men holding drug paraphernalia, specifically folded aluminum foil, and in the act of sniffing drugs, apparently shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
Operatives immediately arrested Malonda and Co, but the three other men escaped. The police recovered strips and rolls of aluminum foil from the two, along with sachets containing what appeared to be shabu.
